"Be still, and know that I am God;  I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." Psalm 46:10

"I want you to know, brothers, that the gospel I preached is not something man made up.  I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ."  Galatians 1:11-12

"One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision:  Do not be afraid;  keep on speaking, do not be silent.  For I am with you, and no one is going to attack and harm you, because I have many people in this city.  So Paul stayed for a year and a half, teaching them the Word of God."  Acts 19:9-11

What does it mean to be still?  For men and women of today that is something most of us have trouble doing.  We think being still is doing nothing.  And we do not have time to waste in this fast paced world and time is money, right?  Well looking more closely at this verse we see clearly that being still is not doing nothing.  In fact as God's people being still is something we need more than anything to fuel our relationship and purpose with God.   We must not shy away from being still but embrace it as a way into what God will have us to do for Him.

In the stillness when there are no distractions or diversions, we will find God waiting to interact with us.  The Psalmist writes:  "Be still and know that I am God..."  Why is knowing God something paramount we must pursue?  It is the knowing of God that will make us useful in His hands to reach the nations and for His name to be exalted.  Look at the man Paul.  After his first personal encounter with Jesus, it was only the beginning of a lifelong pursuit to know Jesus.  And it was this pursuit of knowing of Jesus that ultimately accomplished God's plan to reveal Himself to the Gentiles.  Because Paul tirelessly spent time knowing God, you and I may know Him today.  May our lives impact others as Paul's was used by God to reach us.

When you and I are so busy "doing" for God, we neglect the "knowing" of God.  This in turn perpetuates a work done by you in which God is neither made known or exalted as He, Himself could do through us.  He can make Himself exalted among the nations and in the earth if we are resting and abiding in our knowledge and intimacy of Him, not because you are doing something for Him.  Paul says in 1Cor 2:2, "For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified."

In Corinth, to whom Paul spoke these words, God reveals that He has people in that city to whom He was sending Paul.  It was not for Paul to go there looking for them but that God would make them known to Paul even as Paul received the vision from God Himself. You and I are working to hard trying to do God's work, when all He requires of us is to "Know Him".  He will do His work through us as a result of that knowing Him.  He takes the responsibility of leading His people wherever they are and using our lives, full of the knowledge of Him, to do it.

For Jesus, that was His own focus as we have read.  He only did what He saw the Father doing, and He only spoke that which the Father said. (John 12:49-50, John 15:15) He accomplished this in the flesh while He was here on earth.  His flesh did not restrain Him from knowing God.  His only purpose was to accomplish God's will on earth, thereby exalting God among the people.

Slow down and be like Paul and many others who have gone before us, make being still and knowing God the focus of your life then you will see how He will do the work through you and for you.

TRUSA-

Towards Revival in USA

God established and blessed the United States of America so that she would be a blessing to the rest of the world.  Today we see many things contrary to this original plan for this country.  That is why men and women of God must rise up now in our generation to advance God’s purpose as it was in the beginning. This clarion call is to all leaders who desire to see the fulfillment of His word in our time and to seek His will for our nation. Let us stand side by side in pursuit of God’s heart and mind for accomplishing this.

The work is extensive and spread out, and we are widely separated from each other along the wall.  Wherever you hear the sound of the trumpet, join us there.  Our God will fight for us!” Nehemiah  4:19
